The Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago (HTGC) in Lemont, Illinois, hosted a grand two-day celebration on Mar.22 and Mar.23 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Thanga Murugan Vizha, honoring Lord Murugan. The event was organized in the Mandir Auditorium and drew thousands of devotees and cultural groups across the Midwest.
The celebrations featured a series of sacred rituals, cultural performances, and spiritual discourses, fostering a deep sense of devotion and community. More than 250 children participated in cultural programs.
Chief guests, including So. Mee. Sundaram, a renowned spiritual orator and Tamil scholar, and U. E. Sindhuja, a musical discourse exponent, delivered insightful talks that enriched the spiritual experience for attendees.
The event commenced on Mar.22 with Paal Kudam, Abhishekam, and Pooja Kaavadi from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by an evening of cultural performances and the "Little Muruga Show," which concluded at 9:00 p.m. The following day, Mar.23, began with the Thanga Murugan Procession from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., leading into a full day of cultural programs that continued until 7:00 p.m.
