Maryland Comptroller Brooke E. Lierman is set to host the inaugural AAPI Heritage Awards, Honoring Legacy, Inspiring Tomorrow, to recognize the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) business owners and community leaders to Maryland and the business community.
The event’s goal is to celebrate AAPI community members and business leaders who have demonstrated a positive influence on their communities for sustained change, engaged in community service and mentorship, shown themselves to be good stewards toward the community, and inspired others to work together to reach shared goals.
The inaugural AAPI Heritage Awards will include the Community Champion Awards with three subcategories - Small Business, Emerging Business, and Business Leader. These awards will honor Maryland business leaders who have made a sizeable impact on the AAPI community and worked with diverse organizations and stakeholders for stewardship and community service.
There will also be a Public Service Award, which will recognize organizations or individuals that have created or advocated for sustainable advancement in the AAPI community.

The event will be held on May.28 at 3 p.m. in the Louis L. Goldstein Treasury Building’s Assembly Room in Annapolis during AAPI Heritage Month.
Comptroller Lierman highlighted that cultural diversity strengthens the state and makes the economy more resilient. “I encourage Marylanders to celebrate their neighbors by nominating them for an award so we can share their stories and accomplishments, and applaud the innovation, advocacy, persistence, and willingness to serve our communities,” she added.
Nominations and registration for the Heritage Awards are now open and will be accepted through May.4 at 11:59 p.m. Marylanders are invited to nominate Maryland businesses and individuals who provide impactful service to the AAPI community, demonstrating change and positive influence within the community for which they serve.
