Cobalt, a San Francisco based provider of offensive security solutions and the pioneer of Pentest as a Service (PtaaS), announced the appointment of Sonali Shah as the company’s new chief executive officer.

Shah, who has been on Cobalt's board of directors and brings over two decades of expertise in the field, is set to lead the company into its next phase of growth as it continues to expand its platform to meet the growing demands of modern security challenges.

Under her leadership, the transformation of legacy application security technology at Veracode and Invicti was implemented, resulting in the earlier and more frequent testing of web applications and APIs.In the last quarter, the company reported a record number of pentests performed on its platform, outpacing any previous quarter.

"Cobalt is uniquely positioned to help enterprises manage the risk of their expanding attack surfaces with efficient and continuous offensive security programs," Shah said. "I am excited to work with the great team at Cobalt in this effort and usher in the next phase of the company's growth—one that will be achieved with a relentless focus on providing maximum value to customers as their offensive security needs continue to evolve."

Shah’s track record in cybersecurity includes playing a key strategic role in the successful sales of both Veracode and Invicti, further solidifying her reputation as a transformative leader in the industry.

"Sonali brings the right experience to this team. She has the strategic vision and deep domain expertise needed to lead Cobalt into its next phase of growth," said Gajan Rajanathan, partner at Highland Europe. "Our entire board looks forward to working with her, and we thank Chris for his contributions to Cobalt."

Shah succeeds Chris Manton-Jones, who has served as CEO since April 2022. Under his leadership, Cobalt expanded its footprint in the PtaaS space and diversified into broader offensive security solutions, achieving profitability and significantly growing its customer base.
