TiE partners with GIFT City to boost entrepreneurship and economic growth

The MoU outlines a collaborative framework between GIFTCL and TiE to promote innovation, attract investments, and create a supportive environment for businesses via GIFT City.

Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), India’s only International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), has entered into a partnership with TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), a  a nonprofit organization devoted to Indian-origin entrepreneurs,  to drive economic growth, create jobs, and enhance the business ecosystem in the country. 

The memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed on aims to establish a collaborative framework between GIFTCL and TiE to promote innovation, attract investments, and create an enabling environment for businesses through GIFT City. It will leverage the strengths of both organizations and their networks to drive economic growth and provide significant employment opportunities, an official statement noted. 

Under the agreement, GIFT City will be promoted as the preferred destination for TiE members and portfolio companies. The MoU includes provisions for regulatory guidance, advisory support, assistance in obtaining necessary approvals and licenses, space allocation, and access to GIFT City’s world-class infrastructure.

TiE will connect GIFT City with its global network of entrepreneurs and industry leaders, offer insights on enhancing the startup ecosystem, and organize knowledge-sharing sessions, networking events, and boot camps. Both parties will engage in joint promotion and branding activities, collaborate on studies and research publications, and conduct outreach programs targeting entrepreneurs and investors interested in the Indian market.

A joint working committee comprising representatives from GIFTCL and TiE will oversee collaboration activities. This committee will meet periodically to discuss progress, address challenges, and explore new opportunities. An annual entrepreneurship summit will also be hosted at GIFT City involving the larger TiE network.

Tapan Ray, MD & group CEO of GIFT City, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “The collaboration will enable us to attract top-tier entrepreneurs and businesses to GIFT City, further solidifying our position as a leading financial and technology services hub.”

Amit Gupta, chairman of the board of trustees, TiE Global, highlighted the mutual sense of purpose for innovation and value creation shared by both organizations. “We are excited to sign this MoU with GIFT City that will serve as a catalyst for capacity building to create jobs, drive economic growth, and shape innovation to transform and uplift societies and economies,” he said.
