"Kalki 2898 AD," featuring an all-star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone, has been breaking records since its release. The film, which premiered on June 26, has not only captivated audiences in India but has also become the highest-earning Telugu film in Canada.
The film's impressive earningshave set a new benchmark, surpassing SS Rajamouli’s "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion," which previously held the record with a US$ 10 million opening weekend in 2017.
Within just three days of its release, "Kalki 2898 AD" became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024, boasting a global opening of US $23.3 million (approximately INR191.5 crore). This remarkable debut outperformed the opening day records of other major Indian hits like "KGF 2" and "Jawan."
Furthermore, "Kalki 2898 AD" has climbed to the 8th spot on the list of highest-grossing Indian films in the United States, surpassing notable titles such as Aamir Khan’s "PK" and Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani." The film is on track to outdo "Dangal" and "Padmaavat," potentially securing a place among the top five.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh projected that "Kalki 2898 AD" would continue its strong performance into the following week, bolstered by holidays in both Canada and the United States.
