A new project focused on empowering local artisans and promoting sustainable heritage tourism has been launched in Tajganj, Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal. The "World Heritage, Sustainable Development, and Local Communities" initiative, spearheaded by the UNESCO Regional Office for South Asia, aims to uplift the livelihoods of artisans specializing in the intricate Parchin Kari (stone inlay craft) while fostering community-driven heritage conservation.
