The expanded services include the issuance of visas, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards, and passports. For these services, applicants can schedule appointments or use drop-off services at VFS Global offices in both Seattle and Bellevue. The Seattle VFS office is conveniently located adjacent to the current consulate premises, facilitating easier access for applicants.
A range of miscellaneous consular services will also be available at the Consulate General of India in Seattle including the attestation of power of attorney, issuance of life, death, and marriage certificates, attestation of documents, affidavits for children's passports to be issued in India, and registration of births, among others. Applicants can avail these services either by walking into the consulate or through mail.
The initiative intends to improve service delivery and meet the growing demand for consular services in the region. It is expected to significantly reduce the wait times and travel burden for residents seeking these essential services.
The consulate issued a notice on X on July.1 which contains detailed information regarding scheduling appointments; applicants are encouraged to visit the official consulate website or contact the VFS Global offices directly. This new development marks a substantial enhancement in the consular services infrastructure, aimed at better serving the Indian community and other applicants in the northwestern United States.
