BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville celebrates Ram Navami

The temple hosted a two-day event, marking the birth anniversaries of Lord Ram and Lord Swaminarayan.

Thousands of people in New Jersey celebrated Ram Navami at BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville over the weekend. The two-day event, from Apr.5 to Apr.6, was marked by a vibrant display of devotional prayers, cultural performances, and community gatherings.

Community spirit was profound as families, children, and individuals from all walks of life participated in the celebrations, underscoring the inclusive and harmonious values promoted by both Lord Ram and Lord Swaminarayan.

On the first day of the celebrations at BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, devotees gathered in the afternoon to participate in a special aarti ritual and worship. In the evening, a special cultural performance led by youths included spiritual discourses, musical performances, and devotional dances and vignettes, all highlighting the teachings and life of Lord Ram and Lord Swaminarayan.


During the assembly, a grand procession marched through the audience carrying a beautifully decorated sacred image of Lord Ramchandra and Lord Swaminarayan. The joyous procession resonated throughout the assembly hall, filling the air with spirituality and devotion.

The second day of celebrations at Akshardham included an abhishek ritual which involved pouring water over the sacred image of God. This was followed by hourly arti rituals throughout the day in the grand Nilkanth Plaza.

Devotees gathered in front of the 49-foot tall sacred image of Lord Swaminarayan’s teenage form, Shri Nilkanth Varni. The festivities concluded with a special ceremony at 10:10 p.m. - the birth time of Lord Swaminarayan.
