The Bengali Club USA celebrated Durga Puja on Oct 5 and 6, bringing the essence of one of India's most cherished festivals to the United States. The two-day event was a grand showcase of tradition, culture, and community spirit, providing attendees with an immersive experience of Bengali heritage.
Ruchika Jain, on Instagram known as fireflydo, posted a video showcasing how NRIs celebrated the festival. In the posted video, she walked through the various ceremonies and events planned over two days, providing a wonderful opportunity to experience Indian culture in New York City.

Bengali Club USA celebrates Durga Pooja at Times Square / Jagdish SewhaniOn October 6, the celebrations started with Nabami Puja and the recitation of the Durga Stotram, marking the festival's ninth day. Devotees came together to pray and honor Goddess Durga, offering their gratitude. They then participated in the Nabami Puja Anjali, a meaningful ritual that strengthened their spiritual connection.
A large number of people witnessed the grande finale at Times Square--the traditional Sindur Khela. The ritual involves married women applying sindoor, or vermillion, on one another's foreheads, cheeks, and noses.
