75 ICCR Foundation Day celebrations in Budapest

The Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre (ASCC) in Budapest, Hungary commemorated the 75th Foundation Day of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The event highlighted the council’s activities and efforts to promote Indian culture globally since its establishment on Apr.9, 1950.
ICCR Budapest / ICCR Budapest Director Mukesh Kumar Srivastava speaking at the event. Welcoming the gathering, director of ASCC, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Srivastava extended Navratri, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and Hindu New Year greetings. “Culture is considered an important conduit that transcends borders and connect with people as such, ICCR believes in “Connecting World Through Culture” which is reflected in its objectives”, he said.

As a branch of ICCR, ASCC also strives to promote understanding about Indian culture, traditions and heritage by organising cultural and academic activities, he noted.
ICCR reaches a significant milestone in its journey;75th Foundation Day on 9th April 2024. For over seven decades , it has been dedicated to fostering cultural exchanges and promoting mutual understanding and goodwill between India and the rest of the world.

A video message from the Director General of ICCR, Kumar Tuhin as well as a short video outlining ICCR’s journey through the years were shown at the event.
A special program by ASCC’s teachers, students, local artists, members of the Indian community and ICCR’s alumni, showcasing the vibrant essence of Indian cultural heritage was the event’s highlight.
