The Asian American Unity Coalition(AAUC) will host the 2024 Asian American Unity Summit from Sept. 19 to 20, 2024 at the US Capitol in Washington, DC.
The summit will feature a White House briefing and interactive session on Asian American issues, a meeting with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI, and a full-day Congressional meeting at Capitol Hill.
The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), which will serve as a co-host for the summit, in a statement said it will actively advocate for legislation to address the Green Card backlog in legal immigration.
The summit will also honor individuals or organizations who have contributed significantly to the community. It is seeking nominations for various award categories.
They include—Dilip Singh Saund Award for Political Leadership, Norman Mineta Award for Public Service, Outstanding Community Service Award (individual and/or organization), and Asian American Philanthropist of the Year (individual and/or organization).
This year they are also introducing a new award category titled “President’s Award for Young Asian American Person of the Year.” The AAUC will nominate those who have demonstrated accomplishments in his/her professional field or in starting up a new business venture or are recognized for social/community service.
