Ex-Google engineer and well-known tech influencer Debarghya Das has said that young Indians are losing faith in the country in social media posts that have divided netizens.
Das’s comments, shared on X (formerly Twitter), have gone viral and resonated with many who share his concerns about the country's future.
He expressed a growing disillusionment among young Indians and cited failures in the police, government, infrastructure, and judiciary as key reasons. "Young citizens are losing faith in the country," he wrote which suggested that this erosion of trust pushed many people to look for opportunities abroad.

Young citizens are losing faith in the country as police, government, infrastructure and judiciary constantly fail.
This isn't the first time Das has criticized the state of affairs in India. He previously questioned why many non-resident Indians (NRIs) praise the country while choosing to live elsewhere. "It’s disingenuous to act like it's the best place in the world if you're not living in it," he stated.
His latest remarks come in the wake of several high-profile incidents, such as the mishandling of the Kolkata doctor's rape-murder case and the confusion surrounding the postponement of the NEET exam. These issues, he suggests, are making India less appealing even to those who would prefer to stay.

Social media reactions to Das's post have been mixed. Many users echoed his sentiments, pointing to India's struggling law and order system, deteriorating infrastructure, and rising inflation as reasons why life abroad seems more attractive. Some also highlighted systemic inefficiencies and governance challenges as factors driving this loss of faith.
However, not everyone agreed. A segment of users defended India and argued that every country has its own set of challenges and that despite its flaws.
