Praveen, who was pursuing his Master’s degree in Data Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, had traveled to the U.S. in 2023 after completing his Bachelor of Technology in Hyderabad. To support his studies, he worked part-time at a local store.
He had recently visited India in December 2024 and returned to the U.S. on Jan. 20, to complete his course, which was scheduled to conclude in four months.
Praveen’s death is the latest in a series of tragic incidents involving Indian students in the U.S. In recent years, violent crimes and accidents have claimed the lives of several Indian students studying abroad.
