USAID administrator for global health to visit India
The visit aims to reaffirm the US' dedication to collaborating with India in addressing global health challenges

Dr. Atul Gawande, the Assistant Administrator for Global Health at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will be in India from Mar. 19 to Mar. 22 to advance the U.S.-India health partnership. He will visit New Delhi, as well as Dewas and Indore in Madhya Pradesh, to meet with government officials, healthcare professionals, academics, civil society representatives, and business leaders. The visit aims to reaffirm the United States' dedication to collaborating with India in addressing global health challenges and fostering innovative solutions.
Assistant Administrator Gawande's visit will strengthen the United States' commitment to partnering with India in tackling some of the most pressing global development challenges. This includes leveraging emerging technologies to advance global health objectives, enhancing primary healthcare systems to bolster global health security, and engaging directly with communities to develop equitable and efficient responses.
Over the past 70 years, the development collaboration between the United States and India has been transformative, benefiting both nations and contributing to a safer and more prosperous world, the US Embassy said in a release. Today, the United States and India continue to collaborate to advance shared global health and development priorities.
Leveraging their status as two of the world's largest economies and centers for technology and innovation, they work together to test and implement healthcare models and innovative solutions to tackle complex health challenges. These efforts have the potential to be scaled and replicated not only in India but also globally, the release added.
