The U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald J. Trump for the significant outcomes achieved during their first official meeting in President Trump’s second term.
The high-level engagement, held on Feb. 13 in Washington, D.C., underscored the enduring strength of the U.S.-India strategic and economic partnership.
In a statement, USISPF lauded the discussions between the two leaders, highlighting key agreements on trade, defense, technology, energy security, and counterterrorism cooperation. “The U.S.-India partnership has never been stronger, and this meeting reaffirms the commitment of both nations to a shared vision for economic growth, regional security, and technological innovation,” the forum stated.
USISPF welcomed the announcement of "Mission 500," an ambitious initiative to increase bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. As part of this effort, both nations committed to negotiating the first tranche of a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) by Fall 2025. USISPF emphasized that this agreement would create a more balanced trade relationship by reducing barriers, fostering investment, and ensuring fair market access for businesses in both countries.

USISPF praised the launch of “U.S.-India COMPACT” (Catalyzing Opportunities for Military Partnerships and Cooperation in Advanced Technologies), which aims to enhance defense cooperation and technological innovation. The forum highlighted President Trump’s commitment to bolstering India’s military capabilities through advanced defense procurements, including F-35 fighter jets and other strategic platforms.
“The U.S.-India defense relationship continues to deepen, reflecting a shared commitment to ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific,” USISPF stated. The forum also underscored the significance of co-production agreements and technology transfers in strengthening India’s defense ecosystem.
In technology and supply chain resilience, USISPF praised the TRUST ("Transforming the Relationship Utilizing Strategic Technology") initiative, which will expand cooperation in artificial intelligence, semiconductor development, and critical mineral supply chains. The forum emphasized that strengthening these partnerships is essential for global innovation and economic security.
On security, USISPF lauded the approval of the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a key conspirator in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, as a major step in counterterrorism cooperation. The forum also welcomed commitments to deepen energy collaboration, including hydrocarbon production, civil nuclear cooperation, and U.S. support for India’s full membership in the International Energy Agency (IEA).
As India prepares to host the Quad Leaders’ Summit in 2025, USISPF emphasized the growing strategic significance of the U.S.-India relationship. Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to President Trump to visit India, further reinforcing diplomatic ties between the two nations.
“The outcomes of this meeting set the stage for deeper collaboration in trade, defense, energy, and technology,” USISPF concluded. “We look forward to continued engagement between the two largest democracies, fostering mutual prosperity and regional stability.”
