The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially granted Major League Cricket (MLC), a T20 cricket league in the united states, List-A status ahead of its second season, commencing on July.5
The List-A status designates MLC as an official T20 league, establishing it as America’s first world-class domestic cricket tournament. This development means that all player achievements, including centuries, half-centuries, 'five-for', run-outs, wins, losses, and championships, will now be recorded as official career statistics in an internationally recognized format.
The recognition also provides local US players and emerging stars the opportunity for international acknowledgment, further boosting the development of domestic talent. This elevation in status follows MLC’s successful inaugural season and highlights its commitment to delivering premier cricket in the United States.
MLC CEO Vijay Srinivasan has announced that the league intends to expand its season from 19 games in 2023 to 34 games by 2025. "We saw cricket mania sweep across the US last year off the back of our inaugural season of Major League Cricket. Now, we take exciting momentum into the highly anticipated ICC T20 World Cup and season two of the MLC," Srinivasan said.
"With an unforgettable summer of cricket on our doorstep, we’re ready to capture the hearts of American sports fans with our thrilling, adrenaline-charged game that is the most exciting emerging T20 tournament across the globe," the CEO further added.
