We are thrilled to announce the launch of the MMBA Baithak Concert Series on the auspicious occasion of Vasant Panchami. This dedicated platform is designed for intimate, professionally curated performances in vocal, instrumental, and dance arts. Each Baithak will offer an immersive concert experience, with meticulous attention to artist selection, venue ambiance, and presentation, ensuring a memorable and enriching atmosphere. Through MMBA Baithak, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for students, artists, and connoisseurs who cherish our musical legacy. We are honored to inaugurate this platform with a performance by the immensely talented Srijan Deshpande. A dedicated student, performer, researcher, teacher, and archivist of Hindustani Raga Sangeet, Srijan has been rigorously trained under the renowned vocalist and musicologist Pt. Satyasheel Deshpande. With over a decade of experience in preserving and disseminating this musical tradition at some of India’s most significant music archives, Srijan brings a unique blend of scholarship and artistry to his music. Srijan holds a doctorate in musicology from the Manipal Centre for Humanities, MAHE Manipal, India. He is a fellow of the New India Foundation, which whose support imhe is currently writing a comprehensive biography of the iconic vocalist Pt. Kumar Gandharva. Srijan is also an a music researcher and educator. He is a research affiliate at UC Santa Cruz and has taught music at various universities in India. He also currently teaches vocal music privately in Fremont, CA. Srijan will be supported by Amod Dandawate on Tabla and Vivek Datar on Harmonium We invite you to join us in this journey of celebrating music, culture, and artistry with the MMBA Baithak series. |
