Assemblymember Darshana Patel announced on Mar.14 that the Assembly Bill 237 (AB 237) has cleared the California Assembly Public Safety Committee, moving a step closer to becoming law.
Co-sponsored by the San Diego District Attorney’s Office, the California District Attorney Association, and the California Police Chiefs Association, the bill aims to strengthen protections for individuals in schools, workplaces, houses of worship, medical facilities, and other community spaces. It now heads to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for further consideration.
