The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) denounced the recent vandalism of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Chino Hills, California—the state's largest Hindu temple.

The temple was defaced on March 8 with anti-India graffiti, including Hinduphobic messages such as "Hindus go back.”

In a statement, CAPAC expressed deep concern over the incident, noting that the BAPS community has been subjected to multiple attacks in recent months. The caucus emphasized the need for thorough investigations to ensure those responsible are held accountable.

"No one should feel unsafe in their place of worship. We stand in solidarity with the Hindu community and will continue to monitor developments from law enforcement,” CAPAC, which is led by Rep. Grace Meng (NY-06) said.

The security footage revealed two individuals defacing the temple's welcome sign and sidewalk. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department estimates the damage at $15,000 and is actively investigating the incident.

This incident marks the 10th reported attack targeting a Hindu temple in the United States since 2022 and the third involving a BAPS congregation.
