Veteran diplomat and Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Ambassador TP Sreenivasan on Apr. 5 inaugurated registration during a virtual ceremony for the Global Malayalee Festival.
This festival is being organized by the Malayalee Festival Federation, a registered not-for-profit company in India with an NGO status. It will take place in Kochi on Aug. 15-16, 2025. It is slated to be the largest ever Malayalees Sangamam as Malayalees from all over the world are expected to participate and celebrate their culture, traditions, and accomplishments of their community. The Global Malayalee Festival aims to offer a platform to network for the global Malayalees, connect the growing diaspora of Malayalees living outside Kerala with their cultural heritage.
Sreenivasan, who is the Chief Patron of Global Malayalee Festival, urged all Malayalees to be part of the event. In a statement, he said the festival is not in the name of any organization, and anyone could participate in it independently without any affiliation.
The organizers urged Malayalees from all over the world to attend the event, saying the festival will be a perfect opportunity for the young generation to seek and explore their roots and heritage. Some of the major events of the festival are Global Malayalee Trade, Technology and Investment Meet, Miss Global Malayalee Pageant, and the Global Malayalee Ratna Awards.

Andrew Pappachen, CEO of the Festival, said the Global Malayalee Festival is for every Malayalee, especially the new generation born and brought up in a foreign country, giving them an opportunity to explore their heritage and link with the Malayalee culture. “The Miss Global Malayalee pageant gives opportunities for young girls to participate in events and display their talents,” he said. “The Global Malayalee Ratna Award will recognize the most accomplished new Generation Malayalees around the world.”
Abdullah Manjeri, Managing Director of the Festival, said the meet will revolve around four competing themes – Innovating for a Sustainable Future, Global Trade in the Digital Age, Bridging Markets East Meets West, and The Future of Trade, Trends and Predictions. He highlighted that the meet will feature keynote addresses from thought leaders, interactive workshops, and panel discussions. “Networking opportunities will enable participants to connect with industry pioneers, fostering collaborations that transcend borders.”
The Global Malayalee Festival has garnered support of the Kerala Government, its Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Minister of Public Works and Tourism P.A Mohammed Riyas. The event will draw high-profile guests, including representatives of the Royal family from the Gulf, senior political leaders, and industry executives.
