University of Arkansas appoints Indrajeet Chaubey as provost

Chaubey is expected to bring leadership in research, academics, and student success in his elevated capacity.

The University of Arkansas (U of A) announced the appointment of Indrajeet Chaubey as the next provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs. 

He will assume the role on July 1, 2025 succeeding Terry Martin, who will return to a full-time faculty position in the College of Engineering.

Chaubey, currently the dean of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut (UConn), brings extensive leadership experience in higher education. During his tenure at UConn, he oversaw record enrollment, increased scholarship funding by 67 percent, doubled external research funding and launched multiple degree programs.

He previously held faculty and administrative positions at Purdue University from 2007-2019 and the U of A from 2000-2006.

An expert in hydrology and water quality, Chaubey has published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles and secured over $40 million in research funding.

I am confident he will bring that same visionary leadership to this role,” chancellor Charles Robinson said. 

Chaubey holds a doctorate in biosystems engineering from Oklahoma State University, a master's degree from the U of A and a bachelor's degree from the University of Allahabad in India.
