Biotech entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has set big expectations for the American state of Ohio. He is setting his sights on transforming the Ohio River Valley into a leading economic hub.

Ramaswamy posted a video on Apr.5 saying, “We’re going to unleash an economic boom in Ohio like we haven’t seen since the first Industrial Revolution, we’ll repatriate so many of our state’s sons and daughters who’ve left us to pursue opportunity elsewhere.”

Ramaswamy, who is running to become the Ohio Governor, expressed optimism about the state’s economic trajectory. He was speaking at the Clermont County Lincoln Day Dinner. “It’s going to be the Ohio River Valley for the next 10 years.”

Ramaswamy pointed to key future sectors: semiconductors, manufacturing, next-gen energy like nuclear and natural gas, biotech, bitcoin, aerospace, defense, and AI — with a focus on using AI to create jobs through training and education.

Vivek Ramaswamy, 39, described Ohio as a modern-day northwest ordinance, a conservative state at its core. His run for Ohio governor 2026 comes after he quit Elon Musk-headed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in January this year. Ramaswamy is very ambitious about getting rid of the state income tax, bringing businesses to the state and becoming energy efficient.
