Louisiana State University (LSU)’s division of computer science and engineering has recognized Mohit Vij, the president and CEO of 365Labs, with its 2024 Hall of Distinction Eye of the Tiger Innovator Award.

The accolade celebrates Vij’s "visionary leadership, groundbreaking innovation, and enduring contributions to the field of computer science and engineering" while highlighting his embodiment of the "strength, resilience, and excellence of Louisiana State University’s Tiger Spirit."

After earning two master’s degrees from LSU, Vij founded General Informatics, a Baton Rouge-based technology company. Over two decades, the company expanded to serve clients across seven states and received recognition as “Best in Nation” by Microsoft from a pool of 6,000 IT companies.

In 2020, Vij founded 365Labs, a company that has gained national acclaim for its innovative public safety products. Named one of Inc. Magazine’s 20 Fastest Growing Companies in 2022 and Baton Rouge’s Company of the Year in 2024, 365Labs now serves public safety agencies in 18 states.

Vij’s achievements have been recognized with awards including being named as "Champion of Louisiana" by the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation, “Your Business Person of the Year” and “Top 40 Under 40” by the Baton Rouge Business Report, and a finalist for “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernst & Young.

Accepting the award, Vij said, “I am grateful for this honor. It was heartwarming to come back and meet the new chair, students, and the faculty. They are taking a very focused approach towards applying AI to cybersecurity. It’s an exciting time to do computer science at LSU.”

“Mo embodies the qualities every LSU student should strive for: leadership, innovation, and a deep love for our state,” said Ibrahim Baggili, chair of the LSU Division of Computer Science and Engineering. “His groundbreaking contributions to public safety through computing have been invaluable, positively impacting thousands of lives. Mo is the epitome of what it means to be a true Tiger, and just like LSU, he builds teams that win.”

Vij delivered a keynote address at the award ceremony. His speech titled "The Seven-Mile Journey," reflected on his global experiences and how his career led him to establish a company just seven miles from LSU’s campus.

Vij earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in 1994. He pursued Master of Science In Industrial and Systems Engineering in 1996 and an MS in Systems and Computer Science in 1997 from LSU.
