A 51-year-old Indian American from New Jersey, Anup Debnath is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the oldest person to perform continuous back handsprings. The event will be held at the Marlboro Township Recreation Center Football Ground on Oct.19.

Debnath, a former gymnast and current fitness expert, aims to complete a series of back handsprings over a distance of 50 meters (55 yards). After nearly 30 years away from gymnastics, he reconnected with his passion earlier this year, training intensively for the record attempt.

Within four months, he achieved the ability to perform 20 consecutive flips, reigniting his desire to take on this ambitious challenge.“This is not just about the record—it’s about proving that no matter how long it’s been, or how old you are, you can always pursue your passion and push your limits,” Debnath said in a statement , underscoring the broader significance of his effort.

The local community, along with fitness enthusiasts, is expected to gather at the event to witness Debnath’s attempt, which symbolizes the possibilities of maintaining fitness and pursuing new goals, regardless of age.
