Indian-American Canadian entrepreneur and award-winning author, Chhavi Arya Bhargava, has released A Kids Book About Diwali, that tells the story of Ramayana. Apart from detailing the morals and values the epic offers, the book introduces young readers to the rich traditions of Diwali--Festival of Lights--celebrated worldwide.

Bhargava, a former elementary school teacher, co-founded the Non-Obvious Company and contributed to the Wall Street Journal bestseller Beyond Diversity. She is also a devoted mom of two boys who believe in creating a more inclusive world.

The book is published by A Kids Co., now part of DK Penguin Random House, which offers a growing collection of books for children ages 5-9. The series ‘A Kids Book About’ tackles important topics like racism, money, self-love, voting, and now, Diwali. The goal is to spark meaningful conversations between children and their families on such subjects.

Bhargava expressed her appreciation for AVS TV Network, a channel she’s followed for years, for featuring her book and its core themes of identity, joy, inclusivity, and shared beliefs.

Talking about the book with AVS TV Network, Jelani Memory, VP and publisher at A Kids Book About, an imprint of DK said, “This is the book I have wished for as a teacher and a mom. Diwali is a rich holiday filled with amazing traditions, and this is a book that explains it all to anyone … whether they celebrate the holiday or just want to learn more about it. I wanted a book that went beyond storytelling to offer a real non-fiction overview of the holiday, while making it fun and exciting for all. As a former elementary school teacher, this is the book I would have loved to build Diwali lessons from. It’s inclusive of many faiths who celebrate the holiday, including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists.”
