The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has officially announced that its 43rd Annual Convention & Scientific Assembly will be held at the Marriott Hotel at the River Center from Jul.24 to 27, 2025.

The convention is set to attract a distinguished lineup of guests, including Vice President J.D. Vance, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, and Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

AAPI president Dr. Satheesh Kathula expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event, emphasizing the significance of its venue. “It is with immense pleasure that we announce the 43rd Annual American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) Annual Convention and Scientific Sessions will be held at the iconic Cincinnati Marriott at RiverCenter, a vibrant hub of culture, history, and innovation,” he said.

Dr. Kathula highlighted the convention's multifaceted nature, describing it as an opportunity for professional growth, business partnerships, and cultural showcases. “This world-class venue will provide an intimate setting to organize an elegant event, offer innovative research and CME programs, host product theaters, create opportunities for business partnerships and relationships, and showcase exquisite ethnic merchandise and jewelry, among other highlights,” he added.

This year’s convention will also focus on physician burnout and self-care. The theme, inspired by the adage "Physician, heal thyself," reflects the growing need for doctors to prioritize their well-being amidst demanding professional commitments.

Describing Cincinnati as one of the most “exciting, urban-chic cities in the Midwest,” Dr. Kathula emphasized its strong connections to life sciences, healthcare, and finance. “Traveling to Cincinnati is convenient, with major regional connections, including Cincinnati/NKY International Airport, offering easy access for both national and international attendees. The city’s walkable downtown and vibrant cultural scene make it a great destination for both work and leisure,” he noted.

According to him, the presence of top-tier universities and medical institutions in the city is expected to ensure a strong turnout from the medical community, alongside an impressive lineup of world-class speakers.

Opportunities for sponsors and exhibitors

Dr. Kathula assured that exhibitors and corporate partners would remain a key focus. “As we work together to provide a world-class forum for increased interactions between sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees, the event’s location at the hotel itself—where attendees will be staying—will create increased opportunities for more frequent and repeat interactions,” he said.

He further explained how the convention is designed to maximize engagement. “Various planned activities will be near the exhibit hall to maximize attendance. The ease with which attendees can move between the exhibit hall, conference and ballrooms, and their hotel rooms will ensure maximum attendance and visibility for sponsors and exhibitors. So, please plan to come and join us to take advantage of this unique opportunity,” he urged.

The convention, organized by AAPI’s Ohio Chapter, promises an enriching schedule of educational sessions, networking opportunities, and entertainment. “The convention team is working incredibly hard to provide a delightful four days of events packed with educational CME credits, world-class entertainment, leadership seminars, networking opportunities, exhibits, and more,” said Dr. Sunil Kaza, chair, AAPI board of trustees.

Dr. Amit Chakrabarty, president-elect of AAPI, emphasized the event’s educational value. “This convention offers a rich educational program featuring the latest scientific research and advances in clinical practice. In addition, physicians and healthcare professionals from across the country will convene to develop health policy agendas and encourage legislative priorities for the upcoming year.”

Dr. Meher Medavaram, vice president of AAPI, highlighted the professional opportunities available at the convention. “Many of the physicians who will attend this convention have excelled in different specialties and subspecialties and occupy high positions as faculty members of medical schools, heads of departments, and executives of hospital staff. The AAPI Convention offers an opportunity to meet directly with these physicians who are leaders in their fields and play an integral part in the decision-making process regarding new products and services.”

AAPI secretary Dr. Raj Bhayani added, “The Convention & Scientific Assembly offers an exciting venue to interact with leading physicians, health professionals, academicians, and scientists of Indian origin. Physicians and healthcare professionals from across the country will convene and participate in the scholarly exchange of medical advances, to develop health policy agendas, and to encourage legislative priorities in the coming year.”

Dr. Shirish Patel, treasurer of AAPI, underscored the organization’s vast influence in the U.S. healthcare system. “Given that a physician of Indian origin sees every seventh patient in this country and every fifth patient in rural and inner cities across the nation, the reach and influence of AAPI members goes well beyond the convention.”
