The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) is set to host its first-ever World Congress of Physicians from July 18 to July 22 in New York City. Dr Anjana Samadder, AAPI president, has called it the “Mega Convention of the Decade”.
Samadder, the only 5th woman president of AAPI, shared how AAPI’s mission has evolved since 1982.
“Today, AAPI represents over 120,000 Indian American physicians, 130 local Chapters, who make up 10 percent of total physicians in the US and nearly 50 percent of International Medical Graduates, rooted in every corner of the nation, who serve every 7th patient in the US,” she said. “We are proud of our achievements and our contributions to the healthcare industry and the millions of people we serve.”
The convention, which will prioritize vendor satisfaction and comfort, will be held at Marriott Marquis on Times Square. Participants will experience unique opportunities to explore and experience the city and several programs including Broadway shows and city tours that New York has to offer.
The physicians associated with AAPI have worked tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the 2024 convention is a perfect time to heal the healers with a special focus on wellness, Dr Samadder added.
Some of the major themes at the convention include: yoga and meditation practices, a welcome kit with books and self-care supplies, a personal reflexology session, take-home wellness routine, yoga therapy sessions, a workshop on spiritual well-being, book talk with yoga gurus, and much more.
