The AAPI Victory Fund, in partnership with several prominent Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) leaders, hosted a day of action this past weekend in Georgia to rally support for the Harris-Walz ticket and local candidates.

US Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), former Center for American Progress ceo Neera Tanden, Deputy Administrator of the United States Small Business Administration Dilawar Syed and other community leaders led the event, which attracted hundreds of volunteers and community members in an effort to bolster grassroots momentum ahead of the upcoming elections.

The event kicked off at Cauley Creek Park in Johns Creek, GA, where volunteers gathered to canvas for the Harris-Walz ticket, along with State Representative Michelle Au (GA HD-50) and State Senate candidate Ashwin Ramaswami (GA SD-48). The canvassing effort was aimed at mobilizing voters in key areas to ensure the AAPI community's voice is heard.

“Today’s event is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together to uplift our communities,” said Rep. Jayapal. “Here in Georgia, the AAPI community is driving change, and it’s critical that we engage every voter to ensure their voices are heard at the ballot box. When we knock on doors and talk to our neighbors, we are not just supporting candidates—we are building a movement for fair wages, economic opportunity, and a democracy that works for all of us.”

Dilawar Syed emphasized the importance of engaging underrepresented communities. “As we reach out to voters today, we are amplifying the voices of communities who have long been underrepresented in our political process. This is about making sure every voter feels their voice matters and that their participation can drive real change.”

Throughout the day, volunteers visited local AAPI-owned businesses in Johns Creek and Duluth, where candidates including Rep. Michelle Au, Senator Nabilah Islam (GA SD-7), and Michelle Kang (GA HD-99) discussed the significance of supporting the Harris-Walz campaign and empowering the AAPI community at the grassroots level.

“Today was a fantastic opportunity to meet with voters and local business owners about the future envisioned by the Harris-Walz campaign,” said Neera Tanden. “Vice President Harris' opportunity economy means investing in small businesses, lowering housing costs, and reducing health care costs.”

Shekar Narasimhan, chairman of the AAPI Victory Fund, highlighted the unity within the community. “This Day of Action showcases the strength and unity of the AAPI community here in Georgia and nationwide. The energy we saw today reflects our collective power. We are not just knocking on doors—we are opening doors to opportunity, equity, and representation for all.”

The day concluded with a roundtable discussion hosted by Dilawar Syed and a comedy show by Jenny Yang at Café Rothem in Duluth, where Yang energized the crowd after a full day of canvassing.
