Actor Chiranjeevi, filmmaker Mallidi Vassishta team up for fantasy adventure

Telugu actor Chiranjeevi has announced a new feature film - Mega 157 - to be directed by Mallidi Vassishta. A report by Live Mint revealed that the fantasy drama, being the star’s 157th film will be produced by UV Creations headed by Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Pramod Uppalapati and Vikram Reddy. The actor turned 68 on August 22, 2023.

The production houses Gold Box Entertainments and UV Creations took to post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “After 155 films, now #MEGA156 will be a Mega Rocking entertainer," said a tweet by Gold Box Entertainments. According to media reports, the announcement poster for #Mega157 represents the five elements of nature — earth, water, fire, air and sky.

Chiranjeevi (a) Konidela Sivasankara Varaprasad, first starred in the film Gharana Mogudu, a Telugu film, which collected over ₹10 crore at the box office. The former politician and film producer hails from Andhra Pradesh. He appeared in lead roles in films such as Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya (1982), directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, and Subhalekha, directed by K Viswanath. He is also known for multi-starrers such as Patnam Vachina Pativrathalu and Billa Ranga.

He received his first Nandi Award for Best Actor for Swayamkrushi (1987), directed by K. Viswanath. He co-produced and acted in Rudraveena (1988), which won the Nargis Dutt Award for best feature film on national integration and the Nandi Special Jury Award. 

The actor was last seen in the film Bholaa Shankar directed by Meher Ramesh. It also starred actors Keerthy Suresh and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles.
