The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) is organizing an Advocacy Day event at Capitol Hill on June.13 to represent the viewpoints of Indian-Americans.

Khanderao Kand, chief of police and strategy at FIIDS, spoke to New India Abroad to share some key issues troubling the roughly 4.5-million-strong Indian-American community.

"This year, we have selected five different topics (for Advocacy Day). One is US-India relations particularly from the technology, trade and security viewpoint. The second is the Indo-Pacific region, which is an area of concern because most of the world trade happens through that region, and global dominance of China in that particular area has been a concern. The third is a green card backlog of decades to hundred years for some people," Kand began speaking emphatically when asked about the event.
