After playing co-host to the ICC T20 World Cup for men in June, the USA is back for both the T20I series against Nepal and the ICC CWC League 2 One Day International series involving Scotland as the third team. The T20 matches will be played under floodlights while the ODI games will be played in daylight.
The three-match T20I series against Nepal starts on Oct. 18 at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Grand Prairie, Texas. US Cricket has already announced its teams for both the T20I series and the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 ODI series.
The 15-member team selected for the T20I bilateral series against Nepal, also named as the Stake Stars & Summit Trophy will be led by the skipper of the US team in the T20 World Cup, Monank Patel. The team: Monank Patel (Captain), Andries Gous, Abhishek Paradkar, Aaron Jones, Harmeet Singh, Juanoy Drysdale, Muhammad Ali Khan, Milind Kumar, Nosthusha Kenjige, Jasdeep Singh, Saurabh Netravalkar, Saiteja Mukkamalla, Shayan Jahangir, Utkarsh Srivastava, Yasir Mohammad.
Venu Pisike, chairman of USA Cricket, said, “We are excited to bring these matches to the passionate cricket community and look forward to some exhilarating matches. I encourage cricket fans to come out in large numbers to support their teams and contribute to making these events a resounding success.”
Since the USA and Nepal teams received an overwhelming response at this venue during the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, cricket fans from both nations can now eagerly anticipate action-packed games in the series.
The USA enters the series ranked second on the points table in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 following a successful tour to Namibia where it swept its four matches. Nepal will be looking to bounce back after recent its losses against Canada and Oman in September, with Scotland entering the series fresh off its home series against Australia, and will be looking to climb up the points table as the tournament approaches the halfway stage.
The T20I matches will be played on October 17, 19 and 20 each day starting at 7 pm.
The schedule of ICC CWC League 2 schedule will start with a game between USA and Scotland on October 25 followed by the USA-Nepal match on October 27. Scotland will play Nepal on October 29. USA will again take on Scotland on October 31 and Nepal on November 2 while the last match of the league will be played on November 4 between Scotland and Nepal.
The US cricket is also using the opportunity to enhance its roster and develop emerging talent for the national team as its selectors also announced its USA-A team that will participate in practice matches against Scotland and Nepal before the start of the CWC League 2 Series. The practice matches are scheduled for October 22 and 23. The USA A team is Rahul Jariwala (Captain), Sushant Modani, Nitish Kumar, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, Skanda Rohit Sharma, Utkarsh Srivastava, Kwame Patton Jr., Vatsal Vaghela, Ali Sheikh, Zia Shahzad, Abhishek Paradkar, Ayan Desai, Aarin Nadkarni.
