Airbus and Indian Railways' Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya sign aerospace teaching and research MoU

Indian Railways' Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara and Airbus signed an MoU to boost India's aviation sector, providing education and research opportunities with 15,000 job prospects for students. GSV, established in 2022, specializes in transportation and logistics training.

In a move aimed at improving the Indian aviation sector, Indian Railways’ Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara and Airbus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, signed at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi, was inked by Rémi Maillard, president and managing Director of AIRBUS India and South Asia, and Prof. Manoj Choudhary, vice-chancellor of GSV.. 

 

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics, and IT and first chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Jaya Varma Sinha, Railway Board chairperson and CEO, and other senior Railway Board officials attended the signing ceremony.

 

Airbus, the world's largest commercial aircraft manufacturer and a leader in helicopters, defense, and space equipment, recognizes India's critical role in global aviation as well as its abundant talent pool. In line with the 'Make in India' initiative, the company is committed to fostering an integrated aerospace ecosystem in India, an official statement said.

 

Speaking at the event, Vaishnaw emphasized that GSV's focus is on fostering strong industry-academia partnerships. All GSV courses will be developed in collaboration with industry to ensure that students are well-prepared for careers in transportation and logistics. According to him, the MoU with Airbus marks a significant step toward achieving this goal.

 

Maillard said, “As a company that is committed to developing the aerospace ecosystem in India, we realise our responsibility to invest in human capital development. The partnership with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya will develop a strong pipeline of skilled workforce in the country that will be future ready to serve its fast-growing aerospace sector.”

 

This collaboration between business and academia will allow for the creation and distribution of sector-specific programs and courses for students and working professionals, as well as the participation in research projects, internships, and scholarship opportunities. It is anticipated that this collaboration will generate 15,000 job opportunities for students in Airbus Indian operations.

 

Established in 2022 by an Act of Parliament, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara is mandated to train a skilled workforce for transportation and logistics. As a Central University sponsored by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, GSV supports the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022. It offers practical education, utilizes Indian Railways' advanced training facilities, and trains both probationers and serving officers.
