American tech entrepreneur and age-reversal advocate Bryan Johnson, known for his rigorous Blueprint diet, has praised Indian cuisine for its health benefits, stirring reactions online.
“Power is moving away from football and fast food and towards health, science, and Indian food,” Johnson, who visited India earlier this month to promote his book on age-reversal, said urging his followers to embrace Indian cuisine in a post on X.
The remarks surprised many, given Johnson’s dietary choices during his six-day visit to Mumbai and Bengaluru. Adhering to his strict nutritional plan, Johnson brought all his meals with him, consuming health mixes, macadamia nut bars, lentils, pea soup, and matcha tea.
Explaining his approach, the tech millionaire, said, “Food is guilty until proven innocent. This is why I’ve brought with me to India every calorie I’ll eat for six days.”
Social media users also questioned the compatibility of his praise with the carb-heavy reputation of the cuisine. A user commented, “Since when is naan bread healthy?” Another added, “Indian food of the type that made half of India diabetic?”
Critics also highlighted concerns over the health profile of Indian food. “I love Indian food the most, but why is power moving towards it? It’s not the healthiest of the bunch—very protein deficient, excessive carbs, and spices sometimes adulterated with heavy metals,” read one comment.
Some users pointed to the diversity of Indian food, arguing that generalizations were unhelpful. “Everything in India is diverse. When someone says Indian food, I ask, what Indian food? It’s like me landing in London and saying that croissant is amazing European food,” remarked a user.
Johnson’s age-reversal regimen and lifestyle have frequently been subjects of public intrigue. As the founder of Kernel, a neurotechnology company, and a staunch advocate of cutting-edge health science, his disciplined diet often avoids traditional carb-heavy cuisines.
