The American Center Chennai has set up an exclusive booth at the 48th Chennai Book Fair inviting visitors to explore its extensive collection of books and digital resources. The booth will remain open to the public until Jan 12, 2025.
Speaking at the inauguration of the booth at the fair at YMCA Nandanam, Acting U.S. Consul General Chennai, Gwendolyn Llewellyn, emphasized the role of literature and knowledge in driving innovation.
“The American Center’s book fair participation highlights the transformative power of literature and information in sparking innovation and creativity. We are dedicated to empowering changemakers from India and the United States to question assumptions, think critically, foster understanding, and leverage unique perspectives to make a meaningful impact on the world,” she said.
The American Center booth showcases educational and exchange opportunities in the United States, catering to students, professionals, researchers, and academics. Exclusive programming and orientations on eLibraryUSA, a digital library offering access to a wide array of commercial databases, are also available.
Visitors can also avail a discounted membership fee to the American Center, which provides access to the library housed at the U.S. Consulate General Chennai. The library features over 15,000 books and diverse multimedia e-resources. Membership includes personalized access to journals, magazines, newspapers, dissertations, and videos through eLibraryUSA.
The Consulate through the American Center aims to foster dialogues and programs that challenge and inspire changemakers, promoting an inclusive and transformative vision of American values and opportunities.
