The American Hindu Coalition (AHC) will host the first-ever Presidential Inauguration Hindu Gala on Jan. 19.

The event, set to take place from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the iconic Mayflower Hotel, marks a significant milestone in U.S. history, spotlighting Hindu heritage and its contributions to American society.

The evening is being organized by esteemed community leaders, including Dr. Sudhir Parikh, Dr. Romesh Japra, Dr. Shivangi, and Dr. Shoba Chokkalingam, a key figure in the AHC. Dr. Chokkalingam, who gained national attention after a personal call from President-elect Donald Trump regarding a controversial “curry” remark, is spearheading the event's coordination.

The gala, which will be held at the ballroom of the Mayflower Hotel, just blocks from the White House, will feature a rich blend of cultural performances, a visual showcase of Hindu landmarks such as Angkor Wat and Maha Kumbh, and a curated menu of exquisite Indian cuisine.

Organizers aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Hinduism among attendees, which will include prominent figures from diverse backgrounds, including non-desi guests.

“This gala is more than an event—it’s a celebration of the Hindu identity and its growing influence,” said Harsh Sethi, president of the AHC.

Members of the Latino community have also joined hands with the AHC, underscoring the gala’s emphasis on unity across cultural and ethnic lines. The event will provide a unique platform for networking, with expected attendees including Hindu appointees from the incoming administration, Indian-origin members of Congress, and Latino business and political leaders.

“This is a significant moment for the Hindu diaspora from India, Nepal, the Caribbean, and beyond,” said Dr. Alok Srivastava, a leader in faith-based initiatives. “We encourage everyone to come together to celebrate our shared cultural and civic engagement.”

The gala promises to be a memorable evening, blending tradition with modern civic engagement, and setting the tone for a historic Presidential Inauguration celebration.
