American India Foundation to host Purple Fest

The event will be hosted on Mar. 21, at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

The American India Foundation (AIF) has partnered with the Indian government to empower persons with disabilities (PwDs).

Purple Fest 2025 will take place on Mar.21 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi, featuring a range of inclusive activities. The event will include an exclusive Amrit Udyan Visit for PwDs and students, interactive games at Purple Fun, a Purple Café with chefs with disabilities, and an art exhibition, Purple Kaleidoscope. 

The Purple Live Experience Zone will showcase games, dance, and performances, while Purple Sports will feature wheelchair basketball and blind football. The Abilympics will host skill competitions, and Purple Books, Movies & Canvas will offer sessions with authors and filmmakers. The event will conclude with a Cultural Evening with the President of India.

The American India Foundation shared a significant moment from last year’s Purple Fest, which was co-hosted with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.  

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Mar.13, AIF wrote, "A year ago, at #PurpleFest 2024—organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GOI, in partnership with AIF—a bold commitment was made: to open more doors for meaningful employment of #PwDs."
 



The event featured a vibrant range of cultural performances, celebrating resilience and creativity, including the Shining Star Band, Satya & Sagarika, “We Are One,” and “Patriotic on Wheels.” The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced the occasion, offering her support and encouragement.
