Ami Bera and Ro Khanna secure re-election in California

Democratic Representatives Ami Bera and Ro Khanna have both been re-elected to the U.S. House in California, securing strong victories in their districts.
Ami Bera, the longest-serving Indian American in Congress, won his seventh term representing California’s 6th Congressional District, which includes Sacramento County. Bera, who has served since 2013, is known for his focus on healthcare, diplomacy, and bipartisan policies. He defeated Republican challenger Christine Bish with 72,152 votes (57.5 percent), Christine Bish received 53,290 votes (42.5 percent).
Bera has served in the U.S. House since 2013 and secured a seventh term as the representative of California’s 6th Congressional District, which includes Sacramento County. As the longest-serving Indian American in Congress, Bera has been a prominent voice on healthcare, diplomacy, and bipartisan initiatives.
Ro Khanna, representing California’s 17th District, also won re-election with a significant lead, receiving 65.9 percent of the vote with 95,200 votes against Republican Anita Chen, who garnered 34.1 percent with 49,284 votes. Khanna, first elected in 2016, has been a prominent advocate for tech and labor rights.
Rohit Khanna, born in Philadelphia to an Indian Punjabi Hindu family, has represented California's 17th congressional district in the U.S. House since 2017. His parents immigrated from Punjab in the 1970s.
These wins highlight the continued influence of Indian American lawmakers in Congress and the strong support for their leadership among voters.
