Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal has grossed over US$86 million (₹717.46 crore) worldwide in ten days since its release on December 1, 2023. The film The film has bagged its position as the third highest-grossing Indian film globally in the current year.
Starring actors Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Doel, Animal surpassed the ₹700-crore mark after collecting US$ 79.25 million (₹660.89) crore worldwide in nine days.
Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh fame director Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed the action-drama film that resolves around a father and son's toxic relationship. Anil Kapoor plays the role of emotionally distant father, while Ranbir takes on the traumatized and angered son.
#Animal Conquering Box Office with Thunderous Records
The movie is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar's T-Series, Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios and Pranay Reddy Vanga's Bhadrakali Pictures. It was released worldwide in five languages, namely, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
According to media reports, a section of critics and viewers have slammed the film, calling it misogynistic and graphically violent. Vanga’s previous film Kabir Singh, which was the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy, also received criticism for its misogynistic and toxically masculine plot in 2017.
The film marks the biggest opening for actor Ranbir Kapoor, who was was last seen in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, along with Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan.
