Another Indian American Purdue student found dead
Warren County Coroner's office has informed the student's family of Kamath’s demise.

Indian American Purdue University student and doctoral candidate, Sameer Kamath, was recently found dead in a nature preserve, according to a statement from the Warren County Coroner's office.
The 23-year-old's body was discovered at Niches Land Trust at Crow's Grove in Williamsport. The Coroner's office has informed the student's family of his demise and scheduled a forensic autopsy to determine the cause of death.
A US citizen, Kamath completed his master's degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in August 2023. As per the Purdue Exponent report, he received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and came to Purdue in the summer of 2021. He was slated to graduate from the doctoral programme in 2025.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office has affirmed that there was no threat to the public, according to a report by Journal & Courier.
The news comes just days after Neel Acharya, who pursued a dual degree in computer science and data science, was found dead on the Purdue campus.
Kamath is the fifth Indian-origin who has been killed in the US since January this year, a report by Indian Express revealed.
Shreyas Reddy Benigeri, a student of Linder School of Business in Cincinnati, was found dead in Ohio last week. In January, MBA grad Vivek Saini was brutally killed by a homeless man inside a store in Lithonia, Georgia; and 18-year-old Akul Dhawan was found dead with signs of hypothermia near the University of Illinois.
