The Centre will provide greater flexibility to employees to work in a hybrid mode and up-skill local talent

Indian Information technology company Infosys recently inaugurated its latest state-of-the-art development centre (DC) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The facility was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in the presence of the State's Information Technology Minister Gudivada Amarnath; Minister for Health, Family Welfare & Medical Education Vidadala Rajini; and the chief financial officer of Infosys Nilanjan Roy.

According to Infosys' statement, the centre spread across 83,750 sq. ft. will provide greater flexibility to employees to work in a hybrid mode and up-skill local talent to work on global opportunities through next-gen technologies like cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital. The centre will accommodate approximately 1,000 employees and it is in alignment with Infosys’ ESG commitments and green building standards.

Describing the inauguration as a landmark moment, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said, "We acknowledge the support of Infosys in giving impetus to the city’s IT landscape and developing its overall ecosystem through community building. We are confident that this centre will not only give a massive boost to employment in the city but will also strengthen Visakhapatnam’s sustainability story through Infosys’ ESG commitments and efforts.”

Meanwhile, Infosys' chief financial officer Roy said, "Visakhapatnam has developed into a favourable investment destination, and we are very grateful to the State Government of Andhra Pradesh for extending their support as we commence our operations here.” In addition, Infosys has also announced a five-year extension of its successful joint venture collaboration with Temasek, a global investment firm headquartered in Singapore.
