Aparna Chennapragada joins Microsoft as corporate VP

Before joining Microsoft, Chennapragada served organizations such as Robinhood, Google, eBay and Akamai Technologies.

Indian American Aparna Chennapragada joined tech giant Microsoft as its corporate vice president, heading generative artificial intelligence (AI) efforts in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Designer. Reacting to a post shared by Chennapragada on LinkedIn, Microsoft's chief executive officer (CEO) and chairman Satya Nadella commented, "Welcome, Aparna. Fantastic to have you join us, and look forward to seeing your impact here."

Chennapragada observed that there is an opportunity to build products that instantly and easily bring intent and imagination to life, using generative AI. "That is why I am super excited to share that I am joining Microsoft as Corporate VP leading efforts on AI-first creation experiences, across Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Designer," she wrote.

Chennapragada said, “I have always thrived on building and scaling products that combine deep foundational technology and intuitive user experience to solve customer problems”, adding generative AI has the potential to redefine creativity and productivity.

Before joining Microsoft, Chennapragada served organizations such as Robinhood, Google, eBay, and Akamai Technologies. Starting as a product manager at Google, she went on to become the vice president and general manager for consumer shopping across the company and has also led the augmented reality (AR) and visual search products (Lens). She had served the tech giant for over 12 years. 

She was also a board member of Capital One, providing a broad spectrum of financial products and services to consumers, small businesses, and commercial clients. She earned her bachelor's in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras; her M.S. in computer science from the University of Texas, Austin; and another master’s in management and engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as per her LinkedIn profile.
