Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs have officially proclaimed October 2024 as Hindu Heritage Month in their respective states. The communities in both states are expected to host events and celebrations that highlight their rich heritage and traditions.
Governor Shapiro released a proclamation honoring the cultural and spiritual contributions of the Hindu community. Shapiro emphasized the importance of celebrating diversity, especially in the wake of recent anti-Hindu sentiment.
Suhag A. Shukla, executive director of the Hindu American Foundation, has shared the proclamation through personal tweets.

This has been a difficult few weeks with anti-Hindu temple attacks & a recent physical assault, so this is a needed remainder to celebrate too ️ pic.twitter.com/E59dBxXcNV
Similarly, in Arizona, Governor Hobbs declared October 2024 as Hindu Heritage Month, a decision warmly welcomed by the Hindu population, which forms the state's largest religious minority. Governor Hobbs’ proclamation highlights the significant contributions of the Hindu community to Arizona’s cultural and social landscape.

Arizona Hindus expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment. "We deeply appreciate Governor Hobbs’ decision to recognize the Hindu community during these trying times," said a representative from a local Hindu organization.
The proclamations come at a time when the Hindu community is grappling with a series of distressing incidents, including attacks on temples and a recent physical assault. Both proclamations reinforce the importance of unity, cultural appreciation, and the need for resilience in overcoming challenges.
