Arvind Krishna to co-chair NY’s Emerging Technology Advisory board

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has appointed IBM CEO Arvind Krishna as the co-chair of the state’s new Emerging Technology Advisory Board.

The board is comprised of an independent group of industry leaders who will work towards accelerating NY’s transformation into a hub for growth and innovation.

It will offer critical expertise on industry trends and future forecasting, ideas for accelerating the growth of emerging technology sectors within the state. 

In addition, it will safeguard the future of employment for New York workers and make sure they are prioritized. The focus will be on AI to augment the growth of a contemporary economy propelled by innovative companies and a robust labor force. 

“This advisory board will bring together the best minds from business, academia, workforce development, and other important fields to help our state capitalize on its tremendous growth and build an emerging tech sector that is safe, equitable, and positioned for success,” Hochul stated.

Krishna expressed honor to co-chair the board, and applauded Hochul’s vision to spearhead NY’s leadership in advanced technologies. “This is a critical time in the technology landscape – from AI to chips to quantum computing – which are powering innovation, productivity, and economic growth. This board will play a central role in ensuring that New York has the talent, ecosystem, and infrastructure to remain at the forefront of these technologies,” he said.

The Indian American has spearheaded the development and growth of new AI, cloud, quantum, and blockchain markets for IBM. As these technologies have matured, he has also been instrumental in helping IBM create ground-breaking products and solutions.
