Ashna Bhatia of Calabasas High School, California, and Yashvi Modi, a senior at LaGrange High School, Tennessee have been named semifinalists for the highly competitive Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship. The two students are among 571 high school seniors recognized nationwide for their exceptional academic achievements and leadership, despite financial barriers.
With college affordability becoming a major challenge for families, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is supporting high-achieving students in financial need. The Cooke College Scholarship provides up to $55,000 per year to recipients, covering tuition, living expenses, and other educational costs at accredited undergraduate institutions. The award ensures that scholars graduate with minimal debt by covering costs after institutional aid.
“This year marks a milestone for the Cooke Foundation’s 25th anniversary, and we’re incredibly proud of how the Cooke Scholar community has evolved over the years,” said Natalie Rodriguez Jansorn, Vice President of Scholarship Programs at the foundation.
Semifinalists were chosen through a rigorous selection process, with a new minimum unweighted GPA requirement of 3.75. The final list of Cooke College Scholarship recipients will be announced in late March after a final review of applications.
“These students have shown remarkable dedication to their academic pursuits, and we’re honored to recognize their achievements,” said Seppy Basili, Executive Director of the foundation.
The semifinalists come from all 50 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, representing over 4,200 different high schools.
