The Asian American Unity Coalition (AAUC) will host the 2024 National AANHPI Unity Summit from Sep. 19-20, 2024, in the nation’s capital.

This  event aims to provide a platform for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) organizations and leaders to address issues vital to their communities. Ten other local, national, and global AAPI organizations are co-hosting the event.

On Sep.19, a delegation of 70 individuals will attend a White House briefing to discuss topics concerning diverse AANHPI communities. Following the briefing, 100 summit attendees will tour the White House. Later that day, representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ) will meet with community members at the Crowne Plaza Hotel to listen to their concerns, followed by a youth session focused on racial bias in schools and cross-cultural identities.

On Sep.20, the AAUC will advocate for various issues including racial discrimination, civil rights, hate crime prevention, immigration reform, and the inclusion of Asian American history in education.

The summit will also support a bill co-sponsored by Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi to eliminate the backlog of legal immigration cases, an issue that significantly impacts the Indian community, particularly those awaiting permanent residency.

A highlight of the summit will be the launch of a mobile-responsive, online AAPI Community Hub. During a press conference scheduled for Sep.26, the AAUC will present its resolution on the Alien Land Laws and emphasize the importance of the AAPI Community Hub in fostering unity and engagement within the AANHPI community.

Several distinguished individuals will be honored for their contributions during the summit. U.S. Representative Judy Chu will receive the Political Leadership Award, while U.S. Representative Andy Kim will be recognized with the Public Service Award. Additional honorees include the Suffolk County Police Asian Jade Society, SEWA-AIFW, Team Aids, and Elizabeth de Leon-Gamboa, who will receive the Community Service Award. Evan Chen will be acknowledged as Philanthropist of the Year. In recognition of youth leadership,  Jency Malena Mesik and. Suraj Kulkarni will receive the President’s Young Person and Youth Awards, respectively.

Though registration for the summit is now closed, attendees from across the United States, representing diverse AAPI ethnicities and age groups, will have the opportunity to network with leaders from various multicultural groups through in-person interactions.
