Aviation Week Network recognises ISRO with laureate award
The award was received by Sripriya Ranganathan on behalf of ISRO at the 66th annual Laureate Awards

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been recognized with the laureate award by the Aviation Week Network. The award acknowledges extraordinary achievements in the global aerospace arena.

The awards have been divided into five categories, including commercial aviation, defense, space, business aviation, and MRO. ISRO has received the award under the space category, as per a statement from the Aviation Week Network.
“ISRO chairman Sreedhara Somanath brought India’s space program back from the loss of its Chandrayaan-2 lunar lander in 2019 to become the fourth nation to land a rover on the Moon, landing the farthest south of any mission so far,” the statement expressed.
The Chandrayaan-3 mission confirmed the presence of water in the southern region of the moon as well as the presence of sulfur near the lunar South Pole – all for $75 million, it highlighted.
Joe Anselmo, editorial director and editor-in-chief of Aviation Week and Space Technology magazine, underlined that since 1957, Aviation Week’s editors have annually honored the industry’s great achievements and its innovators.
“This year’s laureate winners were selected by our editors after a rigorous screening of dozens of internal and external nominations. They exemplify the industry’s relentless push to expand the boundaries of what is possible,” he stated.
This year’s winners have been selected based on their accomplishments this past year.
