BCCI reveals India's lineup for ICC U19 Men's World Cup

Punjab's Uday Saharan will be leading the team, while Saumy Kumar Pandey from Madhya Pradesh will be his deputy in command

The defending champions, India, have announced their squad for the ICC U19 Men's World Cup in South Africa.

The ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2024 will take place in four South African cities with 16 countries competing for the title. The U19 men's competition will be held for the fifteenth time at the World Cup, having concluded with India's fifth-ever triumph in the West Indies in 2022.

The 16 competing teams will begin play in January after being split up into four groups of four. The 41-match tournament will conclude in a February final.

Before the World Cup, India will play a U-19 tri-series against the hosts South Africa and England from December 29 to January 10.

In Group A, Bangladesh, Ireland, and the United States are joined by defending champion India. England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Scotland are in Group B. Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Namibia comprise Group C, whereas Afghanistan, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Nepal comprise Group D.

India's U19 World Cup campaign kicks off on January 20, 2024, with a match against Bangladesh in Bloemfontein. Their next two group matches are scheduled for January 25 and 28, respectively, against Ireland and the USA. The tournament's grand finale is scheduled for February 11, 2024, in Benoni.

The Indian squad, as revealed by BCCI, includes Arshin Kulkarni, Adarsh Singh, Rudra Mayur Patel, Sachin Dhas, Priyanshu Moliya, Musheer Khan, Uday Saharan (C), Aravelly Avanish Rao (WK), Saumy Kumar Pandey (VC), Murugan Abhishek, Innesh Mahajan (WK), Dhanush Gowda, Aaradhya Shukla, Raj Limbani and Naman Tiwari.

Captain Saharan, who is currently captaining India at the Under-19 Asia Cup in Dubai, was the highest scorer at the Under-19 Challenger Trophy held in Guwahati last month. He made 297 runs in four innings, with four half-centuries and a best of 93 not out.

The traveling standby players include :- Prem Devkar, Ansh Gosai, Md. Amaan.  Digvijay Patil, Jayanth Goyat,.P Vignesh, and Kiran Chormale, have been selected as the backup players respectively.
