A new poll has found that former President Donald Trump will emerge on the winning side in a head-to-head against reigning President Joe Biden in the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Intelligence firm Morning Consult conducted a study among voters in the political swing states and found that Biden is trailing behind Trump by 4 percentage points overall. Trump, the leading candidate for the Republican nomination is ahead by 47 per cent among swing state voters compared to Biden’s 43 per cent.
The study was conducted on behalf of Bloomberg News to find where voters stand on key issues surrounding the presidential elections. In a head-to-head, Trump is leading in Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin while Biden is leading in Nevada and the two are tied in Michigan.
Trump won over Biden in polls measuring voter optimism about the economy. Furthermore, twice as many voters said Biden’s economic vision ‘Bidenomics’ is not working, compared to those who said it is.
Biden also has trouble winning over independent voters. The poll found that when considering all candidates on the ballot, including third-party ones, Biden trails Trump by 10 percentage points among the 1,323 self-identified independents across the seven states.
