Bill Gates meets PM Modi, lauds India's innovation

Gates also met other officials including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates praised India's innovation and its role in driving progress worldwide during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on March 19.

The discussion focused on India's advancements in technology, healthcare, and artificial intelligence, emphasizing their impact both domestically and globally.

“I had a great discussion with Narendra Modi about India’s development, the path to Viksit Bharat @ 2047, and exciting advancements in health, agriculture, AI, and other sectors that are creating an impact today. It’s impressive to see how innovation in India is driving progress locally—and globally,” Gates said in a post on X after the meeting.

Modi, in his post on X, described the interaction as “excellent” and said they discussed a range of issues, including technology, innovation, and sustainability, aimed at building a better future for coming generations.



The billionaire philanthropist earlier met with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, where the collaboration between the government and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the healthcare sector was reviewed. 

Gates also met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue, where they discussed global development challenges and the role of innovation in addressing them.

In his meeting with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Gates discussed the application of artificial intelligence and predictive analytics in enhancing service delivery in healthcare, education, agriculture, and employment generation.
