Birmingham Univ launches special scholarships for Indian students

These scholarships aim to support Indian students pursuing postgraduate and undergraduate studies at the varsity.

The University of Birmingham, one of the UK’s leading institutions, has announced a series of special scholarships to commemorate its 125th anniversary. These scholarships are aimed at supporting Indian students pursuing postgraduate and undergraduate studies at the university.

To honor this milestone, the University has introduced the 125th Anniversary Scholarships, offering financial assistance to Indian students enrolling in postgraduate taught (PGT) Master’s programs beginning in September 2025.

Awards include:

£4,000 Scholarships: Open to all eligible Indian students for most Master’s programs, excluding MSc Management, MSc International Business, MSc Marketing, or MBA. There is no cap on the number of awards.

£5,000 Scholarships: Reserved for high-achieving Indian students selected through the India Chancellor’s Scholarship program. These awards cover all Master’s programs, including business disciplines, with a total of 50 scholarships available based on academic merit.

Applications for these scholarships must be finalized by the end of May 2025 for formal acceptance.

Chancellor’s Scholarships 2025

The University is also celebrating the installation of its new Chancellor, Sandie Okoro OBE, with a series of prestigious Chancellor’s Scholarships:

15 Awards of £6,000 Each: Available for postgraduate taught Master’s programs, granted based on academic merit and excellence demonstrated during the application process.

Purposeful Leader MBA Programme: Outstanding candidates can receive up to £15,000.

Responsible Business MBA Applicants: Additional scholarships of up to £10,000 are available.

Applications for these awards are being accepted on an ongoing basis, with a final deadline of May 2025.

For undergraduate aspirants, the University offers limited India High Fliers Undergraduate Scholarships, recognized under the High Fliers Research 2024, which ranks the University of Birmingham as the UK’s most targeted university by top employers. These scholarships are based on academic merit and nominations from schools or agent partners. Applications for this category also close in May 2025.

The announcement of these scholarships coincides with the installation of Sandie Okoro OBE as the University’s new Chancellor, the eighth since its establishment in 1900. She succeeds Lord Bilimoria of Chelsea CBE and joins a distinguished line of leaders, including founder the Rt Hon Joseph Chamberlain and former Prime Minister the Rt Hon Anthony Eden, the Earl of Avon.
